The scorching temperatures continue their relentless hold across most of Pakistan today. While Sindh and Punjab swelter under the intense sun, other regions are not spared either.
Sunday saw Nawabshah, Mohenjodaro, and Jacobabad scorching at a staggering 43 degrees Celsius (109 degrees Fahrenheit) – the hottest recorded temperatures in the entire country.
Not far behind were Khairpur and Sukkur at a sizzling 42 degrees Celsius (107 degrees Fahrenheit), followed closely by Turbat and Sibi at 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Cities in central Pakistan like Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, and Sargodha weren't much cooler, reaching a scorching 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit).
Lahore, Dera Ismail Khan, and even coastal Karachi felt the heat, with highs of 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) and 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit) respectively.
While the northern mountainous regions offered some respite, Peshawar and Muzaffarabad still reached 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit). Islamabad saw a high of 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit), while Gilgit hit a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Even the normally cool Quetta peaked at a toasty 28 degrees Celsius (82 degrees Fahrenheit).
With these scorching temperatures, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a crucial advisory for public safety. Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during the peak afternoon hours. Seek shade whenever possible, prioritize staying cool and hydrated, and drink plenty of water to avoid heatstroke.
So, stay safe, Pakistan! Let's all do our part to beat the heat and stay healthy.
