Karachi. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed his displeasure on the Excise and Taxation authorities for not completing the recovery.
A meeting of Excise and Taxation Department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
According to the spokesman of the Sindh Chief Minister, the meeting was briefed regarding the revenue collections of the Excise and Taxation Department.
It was informed in the briefing that Excise and Taxation Department recovered Rs 287,604 million as against Rs 335,200 million in the last 3 years. Thus there is a shortfall of Rs 47,596 million.
In the briefing, it was stated that the Excise and Taxation budget target for the year 2023-24 is 55,218 million rupees, while the recovery of 13,901 million rupees is against 41,414 million rupees in 9 months, which is only 33 and a half percent of the recovery.
The Sindh Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the non-completion of the recovery of the Excise and Taxation Department.
He directed Excise and Taxation Minister Sharjeel Memon to personally focus on the recoveries of Excise and Taxation.
Chief Minister Sindh said that action should be taken against the officers who could not meet the target of recovery.
The Sindh Chief Minister also directed Excise and Taxation to pay attention to the collection of excise tax and professional tax.
