Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has
arrived in Islamabad today on a
three-day visit to Pakistan.
Islamabad: Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has arrived in Islamabad today on a three-day visit to Pakistan, the first visit by an Iranian head of state to Pakistan since 2017.
Along with the Iranian President, his wife, a high-level delegation has also arrived in Pakistan. The Iranian Foreign Minister, other cabinet members, senior officials and businessmen will also be included in the delegation.
President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi was welcomed by Federal Minister Riyaz Pirzada.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will hold important meetings with Pakistani counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his visit.
The Iranian President will also meet with the Senate Chairman and the Speaker of the National Assembly while also visiting Lahore and Karachi where he will meet with the provincial leadership.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, further strengthening of Pak-Iran relations, trade, people-to-people contacts, promotion of mutual cooperation in the fields of energy and agriculture will be discussed in the meetings.
On the occasion of the Iranian President's visit, regional and global peace and security will also be discussed on bilateral cooperation to deal with the common threat of terrorism.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Office says that the Iranian President's visit to Pakistan will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations.
