Sindh's law enforcement is taking a multi-pronged approach to tackle crime in the province. The 30th Apex Committee meeting, led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, addressed concerns over stolen goods, street crime, and dacoity activity.

Curbing the Sale of Stolen Goods:

To disrupt the market for stolen mobile phones and vehicles (both whole and for parts), authorities will closely monitor sales in Karachi's markets.

Enhancing Street Patrols:

Despite an overall decrease in street crime, a rise in vehicle snatching demands action. The Shaheen Force will be reactivated with a dedicated motorcycle squad for targeted patrolling during peak hours.

Police presence will be amplified with an additional 168 police vehicles, including motorbikes.

Each district's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will implement a comprehensive patrolling plan.

Tracking Repeat Offenders:

A pilot program for electronically tagging 4,000 repeat offenders will be launched to deter recidivism.

Upgrading Security Infrastructure:

The Central Police Office's Command and Control Centre will be bolstered with 325 new cameras, in addition to the existing 2,000. Additionally, 500 older cameras will be upgraded.

Combating Dacoity:

Having secured the Indus River's left bank with 107 police pickets, efforts will now focus on strengthening the right bank to safeguard Shikarpur and Kashmore districts.

Collaboration with Punjab authorities is underway to establish police pickets on their side of the border.

Other Actions:

Ransom payments in kidnapping cases will be treated as terror financing, with intelligence used to identify and apprehend facilitators.

The Ghotki-Kandhkot bridge construction, vital for improved security measures, will be expedited.

An anti-narcotics awareness campaign has been launched in colleges and universities.

These decisive steps by the Sindh government demonstrate their commitment to creating a safer environment for the province's residents.
